Gabion Structure

 

Uses:-

1. To control the flow of water in the stream by reducing its velocity.

2. The stone cavities in the bund are closed by filling it with soil and debris in 1-2 years and help in water storage.

3. To store water and thereby increase the water level in the ground.

Technical criteria:-

1. While selecting the site, a site is selected where the soil on the banks will not be eroded by the bund.

2. The width of the stream should be preferably less than 10 m.

3. The site of the bund should not be selected on the bend of the stream.

4. A site should be selected between the upper and lower reaches of the watershed.

5. This work is planned on the upstream side of the cement stream dam.
