Continuous Contour Trenches

Uses:-

1. To reduce the speed of water flowing from the ground.

2. To trap water and store it in the ground.

3. To reduce soil erosion by storing soil that flows with water.

4. Due to the water stored in the ditches in the upper part, the water level of wells and borewells in the area increases.

Selection of area:- Continuous level ditches are made on slopes of 0 to 33%.

Slope	Distance Between Two Rows	Length of the Trenches
0 to 4 %	10 m.	100 m.
4 to 8 %	8 m.	50 m.
8 to 15 %	6 m.	30 m.
15 to 33 %	4 m.	20 m.

Technical Measurements:-

Ø Length of trench = As per slope

Ø Width of trench = 60 cm

Ø Depth of trench = 30 cm or 45 cm

Ø The distance between the two trenches of C. C. T. is 3 m.
